Great collection of writings, I particularly enjoyed the more smutty stuff at the end. Love you Joan!
I'm not a big literature person, but I really enjoy reading and sharing my half formed thoughts! Big fan of sound, anarchism, good horny writing and hope

Very comprehensive, in particular on histories of race science and eugenics. Super helpful!
Rly interesting to compare to the movie adaptation, which almost makes more of everything. He writes beautifully and it’s a wonderful tale
Look he made several points and big praise to Engels but I’m not a Leninist, or rather I think we need some of his more direct, antidemocratic methods AND the anarchist practices of direct action / democracy to actually do the revolution successfully- let’s do it together!
Jack Sheppard and Edgeworth Bess were the most notorious thieves, jailbreakers, and lovers of eighteenth-century …
Fucking brilliant. Fucking fucking brilliant. All books should be like this.
Listened to this as an audiobook, really detailed and contained some personal information I really appreciated. Just super informative.
Read this on holiday, thought it was beautiful and wonderful. Was lost in the world at the start and then became lost in a good way, wished there was more! And a slightly more critical tm approach to some elements would have been good but u know it’s fantasy
Simply an incredible comprehensive work of history, I learned so so much, so many specific details which enhance my overall picture. A quote I wrote down was “The only positive development in colonialism was when it ended”. Rest in power
The thing is it’s a brilliant book about such a depressing topic, the hope of anti colonial communist movements and their destruction by the US, specifically the CIA. Honestly if you want to feel like ‘fuck America’ read this book
A very short but emotional depiction of Ireland’s Magdalene laundries in the 80s through the lens of a man raised by them. Depicts very very well the ways that powerful structures are maintained by group complicity and the difficulty of stepping out of line in a tight-knit community.
Some fascinating reflections on self perception, Islam, faith and how to live in faith. As someone who isn’t religious I found lots of the reflections very new and insightful, it was basically a piece of religious theorising which was cool! I feel this would be enjoyed / understood in even more depth by someone who believed!
Beautiful and heartbreaking, as well as everything an incredibly informative history of the Nakba. Expertly and generously told
I was hoping for slightly more from this book, but maybe we’re all hoping for more answers about sex and it’s joys/ difficulties under late capitalism. My main issue with the book was that it was very straight, which meant it didn’t really align with my vibes and views but I will say the chapter on arousal was super interesting and informative. Go here to learn about the histories of sexology and the problems of the consent model, not to reshape the way you think about sex, probably.
Unbelievably beautiful and tender. Free Palestine 🇵🇸
Truly unbelievable, one of the best I’ve ever read. Following in Toni Morrison’s footsteps as one of the best texts written about American slavery. So full of history and knowledge amongst incredible characters and sensitivity.
