Review of 'In the wake : on Blackness and being' on 'Storygraph'

at a loss for words really - absolutely destroying. This isn't goin on my 'faves' shelf, both because it is just uncompromisingly bleak and sad, but also because it v much seems to sit within the afro-pessimist tradition which I have my issues with. However, the way it theorises/shifts, creating and consolidating grammars and histories, I was just blown away. the wake as a framing device works SO well. would recommend wholeheartedly but maybe not if you're feeling vulnerable
